281 RV Parks & Campgrounds Earn Woodall’s 5w/5w Designation

Woodall Publications Corp., producer of the most comprehensive and reliable campground directories available, has announced that 281 parks out of 8,000 privately-owned parks listed in its 2010 North American Campground Directory have earned the highest and most coveted designation of 5W/5W.

Woodall’s dual rating system helps RVers and campers find a park that has the facilities and amenities they want by assigning two ratings to each RV park and/or campground: 1W through 5W for facilities at the park and 1W through 5W for recreation, according to a news release. This state-of-the-art rating system is the backbone of the Woodall’s directory, providing RVers and campers with unbiased insight in a format that is easy to use and understand. Top-ranked states this year were Arizona, followed by Florida, California and Texas.

“While all of the parks in the directory are well worth a visit, from those with rustic, natural settings to resort-like RV parks, RVers who enjoy camping comfortably at parks with more than the average amount of amenities rely on the 5W/5W rating to help them find a destination that meets their needs,” said Joe Daquino, vice president and publisher, Affinity Media, the parent company for Woodall’s Publications and www.WOODALLSCM.COM. “This year’s North American Campground Directory outlines that information in an easy-to-understand manner, and again provides RVers with the accurate and up-to-date information that they have come to expect.”

The more Ws a park has generally reflects the presence of more development and facilities at the park; a park with a 5W/5W rating is usually highly developed in terms of its physical grounds, personnel, recreation programs and superior maintenance of the park’s facilities. Woodall’s field representative teams conduct on-site inspections of every campground in the directory each year.

Woodall’s has evolved its evaluation criteria as RV manufacturers and owners continue to change RV sizes and standards to meet consumer demand. As RVs continue to become larger and longer with more slideouts, they have different infrastructure needs. Campers are also choosing campgrounds based on the conveniences they offer, including everything from pull-through pads to Wi-Fi for Internet access.

Woodall’s is the official directory of the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA), Family Campers & RVers, Camp Club USA, NASCAR and Camping World President’s Club. Woodall’s also partners with the Escapees Full Timers Club and the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC), while Camping Life Magazine is the Woodall’s monthly family camping magazine.
